GENERAL INTRODUCTION
I gained my Degree in translation from the School of International Interpreters in Mons in 1996 and am a member of the Belgian Chamber of Translators and Interpreters (CBTI). I have a passion for languages in general and French in particular. My days are devoted to translation – as a freelance translator, a sworn translator, proofreader, copywriter and teacher at the University of Liège (exercises in German > French translation, geared towards legal and political texts, as well as economics and culture in general, Master 1 and 2).
SERVICES
WHAT SERVICES DO I OFFER?
- Translation (from German, English, Dutch and Spanish into French).
- Copywriting (French only): editing texts from a general framework text, keywords or a rough outline. The tone of the final text is determined in agreement with the client.
- Proofreading/revision (French only): spelling, stylistic and typographical corrections of manuscripts, books, brochures, advertisements, etc.
TRANSLATION
You can fully rely on me for the translation of your source texts in German, English, Dutch and Spanish into French. My specialist areas are the following: legal, marketing, general editing, websites, brochures, cultural publications, etc. I do not handle technical or scientific texts.
For translations from French, I use native speakers of the particular language involved. I put complete trust in their professional skills as translators. Each translation is carefully proofread by me.
Sworn translation: I translate your official documents (deeds, certificates, judgments, etc.) from German, English and Spanish. Please note that the legal validation of my signature by the Court of First Instance takes two working days. So, don’t leave it to the last minute to ask for an officially sworn translation!
COPYWRITING
Copywriting consists of editing texts from a general framework text, key words or a rough outline. The tone is always determined in agreement with the client.
You can confidently place the editing of your texts in French with me. I shall ensure they read with a maximum of fluidity while still respecting your style.
PROOFREADING
Unlike revision, proofing deals solely with the target text, in my case the French text. I pay particular attention to spelling (traditional spelling), stylistic and typographical corrections on manuscripts, books, brochures, advertisements, etc.
Contact me for a quote based on the volume to be proofed and the style of the text. Please note that proofreading is invoiced on a time basis and not on the word count and that texts have to be read at least twice with a final proofing after pagination, if this is necessary. I accept no responsibility or liability in the event of amendments made to the version proposed.
It is preferable to draft a text intended for publication in one’s mother tongue and have it translated. This means saving time and money. Indeed, even if the writer has an excellent knowledge, his or her command of the nuances and certain subtleties of the language cannot match those of a native speaker.
DELIVERY AND PRICES
The delivery deadline is fixed according to the volume of work involved.
For sworn translations, please note that the legal validation of my signature by the Court of First Instance takes two working days.
Terms of Payment: 30 days from date of invoice. A deposit is required for a large assignment.
